It's Italian styling because the shop that did this concept is Italdesignin Italy. This is not a Ford designed concept.Fabrizio Giugiaro is the son ofGiorgetto Giuguarowho designed the 1965 Bertone Mustang.( http://www.arteauto.com/index.asp?Pa...amp;ProdID=733) The latest concept was just a father and son project to put an italian flavor to an American muscle car that they have always loved.

This is in no way a Ford concept of the future Mustang.

The question was why take a truely American icon and let a foreign designer have at it.
Keep it All-American

How was Ford supposed to stop Italdesign from designing and building their own concept? The only reason it's on display with Ford is that it's a really good concept from a reputable design house in Italy. Ford doesn't intend on using any of it's design attributes. Believe me, I've seen the buck for the redesign and it looks nothing like the Giugiaro Concept.

Here are some other Mustang Concepts throughout the history of the vehicle (one of which is the Bertone Mustang)

Im suprised they even let that thing up there, the door gap is HUGE. Makes this ugly car look even uglier.
And about the stang being an American car, only 65% of it is made here in the US. Now go look at a Honda accord something like 90% of it is made in the US, whats more American? And technically, a vehicle has to have 75% of its parts made in the US to be considered an American car.

It's not a win or lose thing.

The Ford MustangIS an American Icon. The Giugiaro Concept isn'treally aMustang at all......it's a peice of Italian art that happens to bebased on the greatest muscle car in America. The Giugiaro's love the Mustang as much as we do.

Keeping it all-American would be a terrible idea! Why not incorporate the best ideas from all over the world?
Besides, isn't your transmission made in France?
