can TPS be turned off?

can TPS be turned off?
alright, all you guys with '07s, can the Tire Pressure Sensors be turned off? I'm really wanting to get a different set of rims, and have found a few nice tire/rim packages for a good price. But, I don't want to have to unmount the tires, find a way to mount the sensors, and remount them (especially since I don't have access to the tools to do this, so I'd have to pay the local tire shop) Should the dealer be able to disable this feature?

RE: can TPS be turned off?
From what I know it is a safety item that cant be deactivated. I put 20's on my car and the alarm goes off and you just have to hit the reset button. I plan on buying the strap kit and will eventually get the sensors pulled from my stock wheels and installed in the new ones. There is a thread if you search about possibly putting the sensors in the spare tire and reducing the tire pressure or making a PVC tube sensor holder that can be pressurized. Do a search for TPMS

According to my tech men the best way to do it is to buy a set of 20" bands, while you have the wheels and tires broke down, and install the factory sensor with 20" bands. No more error codes flashing in the dash or the alarm. We made the mistake and did not do that so I have to deal with it for now but when we buy new tires, it will be done

is there a sensor in the spare too? I was looking at the wiring diagram in the service manual and it looks like there are sensors in all 5 wheels, with a RF reciever hooked to the PCM. After looking at that diagram, I was wondering if something could be rigged up like you were saying to "trick" the PCM to thinking they are still there.

I saw you mention that in a post I found yesterday. Guess I should've searched better first before posting this one. That sounds like a great idea, I'll probably do that since a foot of PVCis a whole lot cheaper than having the sensors unmounted from the stockers and remounted on the new rims. Not to mention finding bigger bands for the bigger rims.

You dont have to take the tire all the way off the rim if you dont want to. Break the bead 180 from the valve stem and push down on the tire, reach in and release the plastic clip holding the sensor in place, remove sensor then refill with air. The balance should be off by 1 0z. The pvctank is the best way to go.(I think )I hope thishelps.
