I haven't tried it yet but bcolem10 seems to make moresense. If the tires not rolling set the sensors off, why wouldnt the sensors go off when you stop to talk with someone or let the car warm up in the morning? Anyway, I hope what you are doing works because I am paying $80 to have the sensors taken out and have the tires remounted.

Leave them off and ignore the dash warning. Use a Sharpie.

Do the tire pressure sensors (TPS) have batteries in them or use centrifugal force to generate the electricity to transmit the signal?[/align]

My car is a 07 mustang, it has blue sensors they are good to 50psi. Higher pressure sensors are green. Each sensor has its own battery and its good for 4 to 5 years. If you put them in the spare mount them somehow they can be dammaged. My pvc tube has a screw on cap so i can replace them at no cost, if you put them in the spare you will need to have someone break down the tire if you need to replace one. Also you dont have to take your tire off the rim to get the sensor out. Break the front bead and push down on the tire 180 from the valve stem and release the clip holding the sensor and remove.

Your right, it would be better to haveeasy access to the sensors. I guess I don't understand how the sensor decides to send signals at 32 mph using the speedo.......maybe the sensors have accelerometers? Or maybe the computer recognizes speed and only accepts signals after reaching 32mph. I've got a set of Helm shop manuals on the way and hopefully there will be a good "how it operates" section to confirm all of this.

Looks like I will be building a PVC TPMS tank!! Thanks for you help.

I am also putting on new wheels. I think I have found a way to make the straps yourself for $40 for all 4 wheels. Go to www.mcmaster.com. In the find product box enter 5540K22.

Let me know what you think.
