Default B&M Shifter for u auto guys

S197 mustang quicksilver console shifter using the factory cable, B&Ms unit bestows your stang with the company's familiar rachet-action shifting, while dressing up your interior with a billet aluminum cover plate, an illuminated gear indicator, should retail around 300 bucks.
I am a manual guy but saw it at the sema show someone might be interested.

Won't actually be available for at least a few more months. They've been holding back on it for awhile now while they acquired the Hurst brand. There's a lot of information on this one posted over on of the other forums. I'll be on the list to get one when they are available, but it's going to be awhile.

It would be real nice if they actually had a decent photo!
Or a price!

I'm gonna have to watch that one, I'm not happy with the stock shifter, mine doesn't seem to lock in place half the time.

I think I want one but what's so different from this shifter than using the 1-2-3 we already haveplus take overdrive off to stay in 4th, then putting overdrive on to go to 5th? I almost never use the 1-2-3 on the shifter though. I think it would be cool if this shifter allowed us to just push a button and disengage the tranny so you can rev the engine while the car is moving! I know we can do that now by putting the car in neutral but I'm afraid of putting the car in reverse and messing up the whole tranny!

From the pic I seen.. I have to agree with my77stang on that one... my shifter works just fine.. even when I shift it like a manual...

Yeah what on earth are they thinking? It looks like a lollipop. Did they actually PAY someone to design that???

I like the rachet action thing but for God's sake, make it look like more than a rubber ball on a metal rod sticking up out of a flat metal plate. No way is that thing going in my car.

looks on the stock are better imo. The function is the main thing, the serious lack of solid detents is waht bothers me about the stock shifter, I have actually overshot neutral once already and went straight in to reverse going about 20mph, luckily this thing is still computer controlled so the pcm wouldnt let it switch to reverse. My stock 99 shifter has better detents then this thing. as far as design, I would have rather seen it in a B&M Console Hammer style, just a meaner looking shifter. This new shifter looks like a pencil with a gumball on the end of it., well at least you can switch handles. That's one oher thing about the factory shifter I dont like, the straight accross alignment is an unatural position for your wrist, it really needs to have an angle to the grip of some sort, like the older shifters in the SN95's.
