XCAL Tune & CAI Advice
Hello to all,
I had a few questions about getting a tune and a CAI, I will list the questions numerically, I REALLY appreciate any feedback yall can give me. BTW I have a 2006 V6 Mustang with about 7K on it.
1. Is there a difference between the XCAL 1 and 2 programmers. Is one better than the other?
2. Say I bought a XCAL by itself, how do I get the tune from brenspeed or something like that. Do they charge for the tune information?
3. Can you get a Tune without a CAI? Do they need to be used synonomously? I know ideally you should have both, I just didn't know if they had to be used together.
Thanks in advance, I really appreciate it!

RE: XCAL Tune & CAI Advice
1) XCAL 2 much better
2) You give the tuner, whether it be Brenspeed or B ama,a bunch of info and then they create the tunes and email you them. You then load them into the tuner. Yes the charge!
3) You can use a tuner without a CAI. You gains will be very minimal though.

RE: XCAL Tune & CAI Advice
I have a SCT-2 and a Steeda CAI.
The Steeda CAI had to have a tune top work.
I bought thru Brenspeed the SCT-2 , they will get your cars computer code and make tunes for your individual car , according to what you have installed (ie:CAI , no CATS etc....) . 3 tunes come with the purchase according to what you want , 87 octaine tune , 89 and 92 , racing tunes etc..etc.
Remember , you have to remove the CAI , any other MODS you install and the tune , putting your car back to stock to get warranty work , vehicle inspections , sniffer tests and Dealer maint.
Must put 50 miles on it stock so the computer resets itself and the sensors.
No tune is street legal as I have read.
Nothing too hard to do tho.
Good luck!
