07 Mustang GT or............

RE: 07 Mustang GT or............
It's just kind of sad knowing that a bunch of "other" car enthusiasts are reading this and laughing about some of your knowledge regarding the STI's performance and such. It gives us all a bad name. The STi is an overall better car. It's a fact. It's not even in the same class as the mustang. You just can't compare them. There is no doubting that.

RE: 07 Mustang GT or............
Isee a lot of opinions... but not a lot of facts. And someone posting magazine numbers... well, that just proves how well, or how poorly the magazine writers drive doesn't it?
I own both a 02 WRX and a 05 GT. I traded my 99 Cobra in for the WRX in 01 because I was moving to Alaska. After I came back in 04, I waited and ordered my 05 GT vert. I took delivery May 05. I kept the Scoob. So I had both cars stock, (ok, the WRX hada short throw and an engine block heater).
The Mustang is more physically comfortable to sit in than the WRX, (but the Cobra was terribly uncomfortable!). That being said, the WRX is relatively nice, just not as nice as the GT was. Erganomics is a wash, as anyone can get used to whatever controls they have to.
The WRX outhandles the Mustang overall due to the AWD advantage. BUT, the stock endlinks on the swaybars of the WRX are plastic. One of the first upgrades a lot of folks do is to replace them, (and it is a pretty cheep upgrade). My WRX stock had more body roll than my Mustang did.
My GT felt faster than my WRX.
Looks? Well, that depends on what you like. My WRX and my Mustang are wingless, (whats the point, as neither of them add to the performance). Neither one are ricey at all. Calling something "rice" just because it is Japanese is ignorant of the term... anything can be rice... a V6 Mustang with a body kit and a big wing and a custom badge just might be rice... as none of those are performance additions.

You would be suprised how little it takes to get the WRX some real good performance gains. Just adding a catless downpipe and upipe can add as much as 25 horses. Include a handheld tuner, (most popular made by Cobb Tuning) add a freer flowing exhaust, (there are a lot, and not all are "fartcans"... mine is a Borla Hush twin tip... very stealth and quiet at anything but WOT) and you can get another 10 or so. (I am sure my numbers are off a bit, I just can't find my normal refrence). The UP, DP, and tuner are Cobb stage 2, (which is where I am at), and it will beat a stock GT. AWD launch owns for sure.
To go further (power wise) in the WRX requires a turbo upgrade (next on my list) such as a VF34. Like adding a blower to our stangs, it requires new injectors and a fuel system upgrade. But it is a LOT cheaper than adding a blower or turbo to a mustang. You can go witha bigger turbo, but then you have to think about a bigger TMIC (top mount intercooler) or putting in a FMIC (front mount intercooler).
More speed is possible, but then you get into engine swaps, etc...
I won't go into what makes the stang faster, as those kind of posts are available here, (although this is not the best forum for performance in this instance)...
To answer the original poster, it just depends on what YOU want. I am sure you asked this question in other forums as well. Take input, but keep in mind that everyone has thier own hidden agenda. I love both of my cars. if I had to chose between them, I don't know what I would do, (ok, I would keep the mustang, but it would depend on a lot of things... like where I am living... the AF likes to move me around). The Scoob has been trouble free for 50k miles, including driving up and back from Anchorage. The Mustang has been similiarly trouble free, but I have had a burble with the supercharger, (fixed under warranty by Saleen).
If you can get the STi, go for it. To those that hate the rice factor, take a look at the STi Limited. If you are not so terribly set on the WRX, look into the Legacy GT Spec B or the Forrester 2.5 XT for good performance and AWD reliability. If I could find a Spec B I would get it... only 500 made...

WRXSTi > Mustang GT
WRXSTi > Mustang GT
edit: especially for someone that has exactly 2 posts, both in this thread. You smell like a troll. Prove me wrong.

Well if you are deciding the WRX vs the Mustang, get the mustang hands down..I hate WRX's...
But if you were considering the WRX STi....Get the STi over the mustang. I love STi's....
