Default RE: oil change every 7500?

I see that we all don't 100% agree here........my take? Well, while yes, changing too frequentlywill enhance/promote engine longevity at a cost of contributing to increased global warming and higher
energy costs for future generations, it all boils down to being honest with oneself. I drive approx.
9 miles round trip to work & back 5 times a week(45 miles per week), then maybe an additional
60-75 miles each weekgoing to school and seeing g/f etc.. So that's about 120-130 mile,on the high side, each week(just under a 1/2 tank of fuelper week). Quality gasoline and fuel additives promote
less oil contaminants thus longer oil change intervals(I know, in a perfect world) in a new to practically
new vehicle. As noted, many people still adhere to the 3/3000 rule, well, I still allow a 3-5 minute warm up each morning(like stated earlier, peace of mind) when thinner oils, EFI and tighter engine tolerances
make this practice a thing of the past(although the thought of driving off in a cold engine scares me more than a 2000-3000 oil change interval difference). I'm not overly hard on my GT(expect every few months that I take it to the track, and even then I don't ride the clutch or "speed/power shift"). I was fortunate enough to havea 3year/36,000mile routine service plan added for free when I bought my 'Stang (in addition to the 5/60 power-train/bumper to bumper warranty Ford gave to all '06's sold after
August of '06), so free oil changes at the recommended 6month/5000miles(or sooner, they're cool with that), tire rotations and preventative care every time I take 'er in. I've owned cars since the early 80's
and changing the fluids at recommended(or sooner) intervals will make for a happy car, but just be
honest on your driving style and adjust accordingly. I haven't had any problems in the 27,000 miles I've driven my '05 GT(20,000 before trading it in) and 7000 on my '06 GT, before that I owned an '00 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab(bought it new and put 115k on it in 6 years(Nissan recommends 3500 intervals), truck was still like new inside and out when I sold it(shouldn't have sold it!). What ever
makes you sleep well at night I guess, but a little social consciousness would help in any unnecessary
trips to Jiffy Lube, Ford dealer or the local auto parts store IMO

If running synthetic go ahead and change at regular service intervals....Ford uses synthetic now and stated they can up the interval. GM doesn't like to put intervals on oil changes and I always change mine every 3000 miles or 3-6 months (depending if it is in storage for winter) and after 2000 miles are finally on the car I will change to full synthetic. Thats just me but havebeen changing the oil like that for years on other cars and never had any drive train problems as of yet regardless of make and model of car.
ORIGINAL: torch red

I would rather do every 2 to 3000....

Cheap insurance...
