If I want to keep my warranty, I'll be changing at 3/3,000 ...

For the most part you are pissin' money down the drain changing your oil @ 3,000 miles ...
Check it out, educate yourself, and then see if you really need to change your oil at 3,000 miles. Maybe oil analysis will say you do, but I doubt it...

I guess the question would be..what oil is out there that could still maintain all (or most of ) its properties at 7,500....? I dunno...

Its been too many years, but talked to a fellow motorcyclist who felt that the way to test oil was to see how long it went before it started dropping on the dipstick. The longest he found was Valvoline at 1,200 miles. Its been awhile.

Yeap..figures. Who knows...if someone produces an oil that holds..I would not mind the greater intervals..until then...no more than 5K.

I have a family friend that works for Penske. He sends his oil in for analysis on his Excursion since he is the shop foreman and has the privelage available at no cost.He is running Mobil 1. He has the V10 with a turbo. He has gone as far as 12,000 miles without negligible results. He also has a 88' F-150 with a 302 and over 300,000 miles on the original long block.Driving conditions and rpm make all the difference. I run Motorcraft and change it after every track day, which is pretty much monthly. If not for that I would go 5000 like the book says.

I use LUCAS Oil and the sticker in the window says every 6000 miles or 6 months. It is expensive but I drive alot of miles and put wear and tear racing up and down the freeway

Go ahead and wait until 7500 miles to change your oil and see how long your car will last.
About as long as if you changed it every 2000. Unless you have bad rings, headgasket, or something else that will contaminate your oil (or serious racing with inadequateoil cooling)there is no reason to change it that frequently. All you're doing is wasting your money.

I know better, but for piece of mind I change my RP about every 3000 miles.
