I have yet to see a timing chain rattle or loosen up on the new stangs, i highly doubt this is your problem possible starter concern i could understand it being the starter withn a few mins off running but 2 to 3 mins after starting idk [sm=interesting.gif]

I also had this grinding sound on cold starts, but it did not sound like a stuck starter. But after reading this thread, I took the starter out (3 bolts and 2 nuts for electrical connections), gently pulled the engaging gear and using a toothpick greased up the shaft. No more noise! Thanks guys.

I have a 2006 mustang v6 auto and when I cold start it has a bad grinding noise and it will only go away when it gets warm do you have any Idea what it might be

Solutions?
Just wondering if anyone in this thread ever came up with a solution for the grinding noise. I have a 2008 Mustang GT manual trans and when I cold start it has a bad grinding noise that sounds like a circular saw. It will only go away when it gets warm... does anyone have any Idea what it might be?
