I plan on calling Brenspeed tomorrow to get a C&L CAI and a tuner. How much hp can I legitimately expect with the 93 octane tune on my 2006 automatic? Everything else is stock. One more thing. Do Brenspeed Tunes ever throw trouble codes or will it be as simple as plug n play without any worry of future problems? Come on you young guns - help this old guy out!

Thanks guys! My wife keeps telling me to act my age but I keep hangin around all of you! At 51 she says I shouldn't be following the "crowd". I confronted her about the gas mileage of the Mustang always being worse after SHE drives it. She broke down and confessed that she's a racer. I told her to start acting her age!

I did it! I called Brenspeed today an order the CAI & tune. They said it would be 14 days due to the HUGE volume of orders. I'm still a little puzzeled though. I thought 87 octane = a little hp, 91 octane = more power and 93 octane = most power. The guy on the phone said that the octane more related to throttle response that hp. He said that even the 87 octane tune would net in the neighborhood of 20-25 hp. Was he right?

I would believe him. My own experience?... I went back to the 87 tune.. And I love it.

RE: Calling all Tune Experts!
Yep He's right. 87 or 91 will feel relatively the same. Depends a lot on brand and quality of gas. My car runs better with local 91 gas vs 87 octane so i am running 91 tune from Brent with a 2% lean at WOT for the 2500' elevation here...I did notice a better throttle response (low end torque) with 91 vs 87 though...With my mods (modest) for a v6 I dyno'ed at 33HP gain at the wheels. And don't tell anyone but (theres a lot of us 45-55's in this forum...hehe) Ill be 49 on Saturday.
