Default Driving an 800hp Mustang, a 2007 Shelby, a F-1 car, and a stock car...

Yep, that's right...in a few short months, I will get a chance to drive an 800hp Mustang, a 2007 Shelby, a F-1 car, and a stock car. I signed up for this Richard Petty race experience at Joliet Raceway near Chicago...and I get18laps on any car (or combination) I choose. 8 laps is with an instructor, and 10 is on my own for time...I will get to go up to 200mph if I want!! I'm super excited...never been in a car this fast before. And the day I signed up they will have 2 extra cars (normally they just have F-1s and/or stock cars), the 800hp Mustang and a 2007 Shelby. So I can take those around the track if I want :-)

All in all it's gonna be a great experience, so I'll make sure I post pics ASAP!! Wish me luck! Any advice for someone who's never been on a racetrack other than to run the 1/4 mile? (btw,I'm guessing most ofthese cars are manual trans, since it says you must know how to drive a manual in order to do this!!!)

You will have a blast. Several years ago, as an anniversary present, my wife got me one of the Dale Jarrett racing adventures at Talladega. They only had NASCAR type stock cars. I got to drive 10 laps with the instructor in the passenger seat. It took HOURS for the adrenaline to wear off.170 miles per hour through the 33 degree banking. There were other cars on the track and I was able to draft up and make few passes including one going low and under a car in the banking. It was awsome.

The driving different cars sounds cool. Hope you have a great time. I am still trying to figure out how to get another run at one of the schools.

yeah, thanks for all the positive replies! you can sign up at www.1800bepetty.com ...the experience's are mostly less than $1000...or if you're like me, you can get them for free!! that's right, 100% free!

a lot of credit card companies allow you to redeem points for these...so check with your credit card company, it's not as many points as you think and it's definitely worth it!!!!

i can't wait, i'm so excited...
