Default Does anyone's hood vibrate or bounce while driving? Help

I just recently bought a 07' GT which I love but at highway speeds (70 and above) my hood is bouncing up and down about a quarter of an inch to half an inch. It does it constantly when I am driving on the highway. It is securely latched and the dealer even tried to readjust it but it still occurs. Does this happen to anyone else? Is this normal on newer mustangs? Should I be concerned and continue to bring my mustang in to try to get the issue resolved? I really would appreciate any input so I can keep enjoying my new mustang without worrying about a problem with the hood or it somehow flying open while I am driving. Thanks.

Check the hood stops on either side. I think they are adjustable. They are located up front on either side of the hood. If they are too low what you described may happen. Mine is solid up to 125MPH; I haven't taken her any faster than that, but she sees 70 daily. Good luck!

Yes they are, turn 1/2 turn counterclock wise.
These hoods are Aluminum and will dance in the wind, I have had mine up to 142 and no issues with it popping up.

Common problem with most hoods above 70+MPH. Mine gets really crazy above 100. I will be installing hood pins, more for looks but hopefully it may help a little with the vibration. If nothing else the pins will give me the added security the hood isn't going to fly open.

Mine does it. Its normal but scary [sm=insomnia.gif] some times. If I was going to travel at 125 or more I would probably worry, but not under 100.

Forget about it and relax. [sm=itsok.gif]

My 06 is good until about 100..... BUT after that it starts acting like a darn bird flying.
Both sides flap like mad at 167 though.. btw: I will not do that again anytime soon, but what a rush...
I see pins in my future too

I got my new GT on Sat and Sunday was driving down the interstate at 75 and noticed that my hood was open! Pulled into a macdonalds and checked it. Nope - closed. Got back on and watched it bow up in the middle more and more as my speed increased. Weird!

Happened to me once on a very windy day, but otherwise doesn't happen, and I drive 75-80 everyday. Was pretty scary on that windy day, though - thought it was gonna fly open.

As mentioned above, this is a common problem, but in fact just a simple front hood stop adjustment will fix this. Beats me why a dealer cant do this, but it seems like they cant fix this. My 07 did not shake at all for 6 months, and twice I have had it over 140 mph out in West Texas on I-10, and never a bit of movement.

But it started to shake some when a fast 18 wheeler met me going the other way, scared the hell out of me. If you can walk to the front of the car, and pick up on the hood at the center or any place and it moves up and down AT ALL, just back the front hood stops out by hand turning counter-clockwise as said, 1/2 turn at a time. Back all four front stops EVENLY. Try closing the hood and testing for any kind of vertical movement. You will most likley have to try this a few times till you feel and hear that sweet " Im shut for good" sound

Main thingthis is to be certain that all the stops are exactly equall, you can count the rings around them to the bottom to be sure. You should be able to drop the hood from 2 feet up or less, and it should close tight and solid with a proper solid sound as mine has.

My hood definitely lifts, typically at 80+. But seems to be at the rear edge by the windshield. I have accepted it, maybe cut some nice vents in the hood at some point. But I dont think an adjustment at the front would fix it, sits and fits very nice.

Mine is properly adjusted, and stays rock solid until 120 mph, at that point it does that "I might just pop open" thing. Me no like that.....I was thinking about getting the Steeda Cowl hood or at the very least a set of functional hood pins.

I can't honestly say that my hood does.

I have had my car over 100mph many times and didn't notice anything. But then again I wasn't looking for it.

Is it something you would easily notice ?

I've been fine up to 130. Nothing above that...yet.

I noticed it very easily. I can't say that it always happens, but it was happening on that day. It's not from the hood stops either (in my case) as mine rests fully in them closed. It's the hood flexing up in the center so that there is a gap along the side seams (between hood and fender) arond the mid-way point. It's most liekly cause by a vacuum created by the aerodynamics or perhaps pressure within the engine compartment.

I'm curious - those not having any problem, do you have a hood scoop? I don't and perhaps that has some effect.
