Removing the Hood Insulation...

RE: Removing the Hood Insulation...
The reason i read before about the hood liners(whether its true or not is another story) is that if your engine would ever catch on fire the plastic pins would melt and the hood liner would drop down and smother the fire somewhat to buy you some time to pull over and get away.

what i think about that is... if there is a fire, and that is to allow you to get more time to pull over and get out.. or what not is... cosidering the plastic withstands the heat that it does allreay from the engine, and that the time it would take for it to emlt enough for it to fall, would be way too long for it to even matter IMO..
just my thinking.. but it may be a real thing.. good idea either way

what does it sound like!!?!?!?!?!

It's really no big deal to drop it. Take it off, drive around without it for a while. If you prefer it back on, it's only a 5 minute job, tops.
Hint: Cup your hand underneath those plastic push clips to catch it. I lost 2 in the engine bay never to be seen again! Autozone sells replacements incase you're not quick enough.

If my engine caught on fire, I think I would want the whole thing to burn to the ground. That way I'll get another Mustang versus having to deal with new paint, smoke damage, and a new engine.

That's what my Sales guy explained.
It's a fire blanket.

I Wonder...
Would the insurance company refuse to pay for damages if you intentionally removed the factory-installed fire safety-blanket?
Looks like another excuse not to pay off on a claim to me!
