RE: STOCK PIRELLI TIRES WITH 17X9 WHEELS
The stock pirellis feel like you are driving on plastic circles. And from behind look like you are rolling on cones. With a 9 inch rim i wouldnt go anything less then 275 on the rear 255 on the fronts. They are so dinky it's not even funny.

How do they suck horribly?
Mine ride great, good wear, good wet/dry traction...

RE: STOCK PIRELLI TIRES WITH 17X9 WHEELS
First off thanks for all the fast replys!!
I am going to have my stock wheels narrowed (front two) and widened (rear two). Then mount M&H drag radials on them.
I was going to buy another set of stockers but for a little more $$ I can get a new set.Mostwheels I have seenare 17x9. I don't want tospend $$ on tires for these wheels.I will probably run the drag radials most all the time.
I could let my Stang sit while the wheels are getting done but the thought of having my Stang on jackstands kills me!.

Don't widen the rear ones (more weight, more money). No reason to, ...check ou the link on the 12 sec bolt on testing.

The Pirellis are far better than the Bridgestone Traction TAs that came on my car...they were junk.
The Tire Rack gave the P-Zeros great reviews.
I get right on the highway in the morning, and they do flat spot a bit for the first few miles when its cool out, other than that, I like 'em fine.

RE: STOCK PIRELLI TIRES WITH 17X9 WHEELS
Stock tires on 17X9 work just fine. I am running them on my 07 GT. If money is not a factor get larger tires now. If money is a factor run the stock tires to around 40,000 miles, then replace with 255/50's

That looks fantastic!
Did you change your speedo gear, and would those shoes work on the 8" rims?

I have 4.10's, a C&L intake, and use a SCT hand-held tuner. With the SCT, in addition to changing gear ratios, you can change the number of tire revolutions per mile to adjust the speedo. It's easy to change.
Living in a temperate climate, I cannot run DR's in the winter. So I will take the two stock wheels I now have in the garage and mount up a pair of 28" dia Nitto NT450 275/50R17 tires. They will fit the 17x8" wheels according to Nitto. Although they may not be the stickiest tire available, that28" dia rear tire will keep the big&little appearance that I prefer.
