Paint job price.

RE: Paint job price.
Actually if you are looking to do the whole car it is way more than 4-5 grand. I paid for the painted stripes and all the body panels and basically the whole top of the car for 4500 dollars. A near show quality paint job or something comparable to factory paint will cost more than it is worth IMO.

You need to consider that to make it look right, all the inside stuff would need to be done, you would damn near have to pull the motor to paintthe compartment correctly, the doors, trunk etc. You would be better off trading for the color you want, even if you take a hit, because to repaint your car correctly you're looking at $3-$4K[sm=badidea.gif][sm=forgetit.gif]

Hey guys, question:
My car is torch red, and I like Red. But the paint has a lot of chips, orange peel, and a slight mismatch where my fenders were repainted. SO, I'm thinking about repainting the entire car. BUT I want to use a slightly different tone of red. more of a bright fire-engine red. I have one picked out, a paint color that Hyundai uses.
Will this be a problem? It will still be red, just not exactly the same shade of red. I never liked how the Torch Red was always a little red-orange in bright sunlight anyway.

I'd look into the plastidip kits. Probably cost a few hundred bucks. I've seen a few pull it off well but you need to lay it with a gun and not rattle cans. One of the recent issues from American Muscle had a car that was dipped. Looked pretty sweet.

Not worth the cost of a proper repaint - however I will say even though everyone dogs maaco, when I was in highschool and had an older car whose paint was getting really bad I had maaco repaint it for a couple hundred dollars and they did an excellent job. It's been about 8 years since then and it still looks excellent, and I'm a detail fanatic. Maaco tends to get a lot of bad reviews but I believe each one is owned separately so your local one may be hit or miss.
but yeah for a car that's relatively new and has a healthy paint coat, I would not repaint it. Unless you spend a few grand as stated, you just can't beat factory paint - the way they bake it and everything. Besides your mineral gray looks pretty nice, if you can work around it they can be really sweet. I would never spend extra money to get grabber orange or lime green, your's looks way better imo.

You get what you pay for. If you want a great looking almost factory job, expect to shell at at least $3K. Changing colors will cost you considerbly more because of the labor involved. I was told painting a car black is a hard one to do because it shows all the inperfections of not only the paint job but the car's condition too.

I was quoted $4,000 to re-paint using the same color and $1,800 to paint my stripes. Changing colors would be way more than that. I don't have any major body work that needs to be done either. that would obviously add as well.
