Default Fuel Filler Neck

I had my first fillup the other day and had a hard time filling it. The pump kept shutting off as if the tank was topped off, even though I had only pumped maybe 3 gallons. Someone posted of the same problem on another forum. He said he tried 3 different pumps with the same result every time.

I had to pull the nozzle almost all the way out to fill it. Has anyone here experienced that with their '05 'stang?

I think maybe the neck to the gas tank is sideways. I had the exact same problem but when I tunred the pump sidways it filled up just fine. Try that and see if it works.

Ford has no fix for this problem, though they recognize it and are working on it. my 05 gt was at the dealer for over a week. dealer worked with ford engineering and replaced a bunch of parts to no avail.

they sent me home with my car finally and said ford MAY have a fix in a month or two.

if you're buying, might want to ask the dealer to not cash the check until you've filled up a couple of times.

i am meeting with the selling dealer management on friday to see what they'll offer.

I had the problem too, but only when the gas station has rubber around the fuel pump nozzle. All gas pumps without the nozzle cover/splash protector fill my tank up as normal...so i've just learned which station has which in my driving area and havent had any problems.

ps be ready for your service engine soon light to come on, seems to be a wide spread problem, I'm taking mine in to the dealership in the morning, I'll post what they did to fix it asap

I haven't had that problem at all and I've filled my tank five times since I got my 05 Legend Lime, I only use Racetrank stations and they do have the vapor recovery nozzle on their gas pumps. How many miles did you have on your 05 when the check engine soon light came on.
