Moving to South Carolina - Anything I should know?
I am moving from Florida to South Carolina early next year. I was wondering about emission testing/requirements and any other regulations for automobiles in that state.
I haven't modded my car yet, but wanted to know if there is anything I should be aware of or expect before I start modding.

South Carolina doesn't do any kind of inspection. The state inspection was done away with in 1996.Just make sure your ride is squared away and you won't have any problems, if a cop finds a vehicle violation i.e bald tiresor notail lights they'll hit you with a healthy ticket. All the cars I grew up driving were registered there and I never had any problems and all if them were moded in some shape or form. Hope this helps. Were in SC are you moving too?

Greenville is an awesome city! You will love downtown. We live outside the city in Simpsonville but drive to Greenville forwork everyday. We moved to SC from Connecticut 5 years ago and we love it. Great people, great weather, good restaurants, good bars, entertainment, etc...
You won't regret the move. I guarantee it.

JimmyVee - We are actually building a house in Simpsonville in the 5 forks area. Small world...
How is the job market there? I will be looking for employment around the first of the year.

Check out the BMW plant. They pay pretty good from what I here. I was going to try and get a job there when they built the plant in the 90's but ended up joining the Navy instead. Good luck and welcome to SC.

I work for a contractor that works at the BMW Spartanburg plant, and I'll say that they're not really hiring right now. We're building a large expansion onto the plant so that it can run at increased capacity for the X5, X3 (once their current Magnusun contract runs out) and the yet to be released X6 (sweet looking car by the way, absolutely breathtaking). So they may be hiring more full time "Associates" sometime in the future, but right now all the take on is temp workers. So half the pay until you stay on staff for quite a while, but the increase is nice once you make full time Associate.
Everyone likes to live in Greenville, just don't go anywhere near Woodruff road, I'll warn you about that ahead of time. Especially if you've got a manual.
