What is the price of 87 octane out there? We are coming out in 2 weeks to San Diego and was wondering what to expect?

About 2.93 - 2.97 if you hunt around... this morning when I filled up I paid 2.97... Here's a site to check out lowest gas prices around town. Arco stations are your best bet...

+ 10000000 on the Arco / BP gas. Horrible fuel.

I just paid $2.93/gal at the local Costco gas station for 87 octane; the brand name places are selling it for $0.10-$0.20/gal more, depending on where in the county you buy it.

If you can, try to buy the gas OUTSIDE of San Diego City itself (i.e. Santee, El Cajon, La Mesa, etc) because the City of San Diego charges an extra city tax on the gas costs if sold within the San Diego city limits (I want to say it's an extra 5 or 10 cents a gallon, but I don't remember the exact tax amount).

Stay away from ARCO! That's a cash only price! They don't mention that on the AM news radio station. Plus it's low quality gas. Although if you're getting a rental Mustang go for it!

For some reason gas prices dropped after Memorial Day, so hopefully prices will drop below $3.29, which is what they are in LA-Santa Barbara. If you're doing the tourist thing you will need to keep your eyes open for those prices near $3
