question about removing cats
i want to remove the cats altogether and replace them w/ 2.5' straight pipe secured by clamps so i can easily swap back before inspection. i know i'll need the MIL's but would that lean it out so much that i'd need a reflash? also, do you run the car while you are reprogramming w/ the SCT? is that how it re-adjusts A/F ratio?
i figure this along w/ an intake, no HC trap, reprogram and pulleys should bump her up to or just over 300rwhp. throw in 4:10's and now we're talking 12's if i can get grip
also if you live in TX and think there'd be a problem with inspection let me know. last time i got an inspection i never saw them get under the car to look at the cats but i've heard that in some places (not sure about TX) that if there's any sign of tampering around them the car can be failed.
thanks in advance for any info

RE: question about removing cats
It would only work if your car is extremely mis-tuned. The emissions tests are actually pretty lenient in the amount of emissions allowed. You'd probably be surprised to learn that your car may just pass without the Cats. I know with my Bassani X pipe in place and the cats removed on my 03 cobra, I received no MIL at all. But, because my state is a visual inspection state, I have to put the Cats in once a year.

RE: question about removing cats
i'm guessing your cars over there are the same as our cars here in england that have 'cats' they also have a sensor on them which is wired up to the ECU if the sensor is after the 'cat then by removing the cat the car will not run properly if however the sensor is before...shouldnt be a problem, our emission tests over here are very strict
