Default Speaker Pop

I have an Eclipse AVN-30D installed and when I start the car I get the pop noise. I have read that a reisistor or the 12v to 5v adapter fixes it. Where dies it install to does anyone have pictures of this? If so can you explain on what I need to do and make it as stupid simple as possible! lol Thanks for your help

Here's one link that will help. Not a Skipper 500, but same installation of the resistor...Or, just go up top and check out Taco Bill's hot links of his install.....

It is due to exactly what was said in the link posted above. Voltage difference between what your aftermarket head unit puts out for an amp on signal, and what the factory head unit put out for the same signal. Just do what is instructed in that link and it will go away. Pretty old issue that was solved quite some time ago.

On a side note.. damn shame that guy put that much time and energy in to that write up, and called a voltage regulator a transistor...

Technically he is correct in calling it a transistor. Correct me if Im wrong but arent voltage regulators made from transistors??

That would be like saying that anything that contains a transistor IS a transistor..

Here, since you are wiki dependant.

All I really ment to say was its really not that big of a deal and its not a 'damn shame' that he called it a transistor. The basic regulator that is used for this application is made from a transistor a resistor and a diode. So yes calling it a transistor is not totally correct, because it does contain other things, but calling it a 'damn shame' really isnt right either. But really... who gives a sh*t anyways...lol If you go to radio shack you can get the part for a few $ and just solder it inline with the amp turn on wire it will eliminate the pop. I did with my head unit and it worked fine. It does take some patience though because the leads on the regulator are really small and spaced close together.
