Default Virginia Mustang Owners - Speeding Fees

Well,by now a lot of Virginia Mustang Owners are probably seething with this damn new law that imposes FEES - not FINES - for "reckless driving" - which is defined as 20 mph over the speed limit. The FEES are ridiculous. $1050.00 for such an infraction. That means if you're doing 45 in a 25, you get pinched for over a THOUSAND DOLLARS.

I think they're frigging insane in this state. As a Mustang Owner, my car looks like its going 45 just standing still, so if I happen to be parked in a 25 mph zone, I'm totally screwed. Seriously now, Governor Kaine needs to recalled on account of Depraved Indifference - to reality.

Actually, it's a lot more than just 20 mph that can trigger these fees. For instance, not using your Turn Signals can also be considered as Reckless Driving. How'd you like to pay $1,050 bucks for THAT......

That is hardly the point. We threw England out of this countryfor their rediculous taxes and other dumbass laws for this sort of thing. It's called, The Punishment Doesn't Fit The Crime! In some places officials and law enforcement are OUT OF CONTROL! Throw the bum out!

You think you got it bad with a $1000 fee???? LOL Have you heard of the new Ontario rules ? We also have a politician who hates cars and people driving them.

Any Cop has the power, right there on the side of the road, to impound your vehicle and your licence for 7 days whilst they prepare for court appearenceleaving the motorist NO right of appeal. The rule is explicit, the Cop is the LAST word.
So, why would he impond it? You'll love this !!!!!!!!!!!

- Street racing (fair enough)
- if the officer sees the car performing a stunt. Stunt =peeling out, donutting etc
- If the officer believes the car has been used for such stunt
- If the officer believes the car is prepared for such stunts
- If the officer believes the car is in the process of being prepared to stunt
- Police have the power to take the vehicle from private land even if it's being taken because it's in the process of being modded to run faster ie, stunt

This means that cars designed to go fast are actually in breach of this new legislation. Go to any classic musclecar show in Ontario and the Cops could, using this crap, take pretty much every car there and crush it.

A quote from this A$$wipe politician

"We can seize that car if we have information from Police and, just of the balance of probabilities, if we can establish that car is being used or prepared for street racing, we will seize it and you will never see it again. We don't need to wait until that car hits the road fully loaded"

"We will crush the parts, you will never see it again"

God, it's times like this that I long for a States residents Visa.

I heard it was only 15 MPH over and the fine was $1,000

I'm not much of a speeder, but some of the roads here in MD (backroads) are 25 MPH and straight and wide open. I never drive 25 on those roads.

This is just more incentive for speeders to run from the police. Dangerous.
