Alternator Clutch Pulley Removal
On the 2005 and up Mustangs GT's the pulley on the alternator is a clutch type pulley.I need to know what Ford tool am I going to need so thatI can remove this pulley from the alternator. The reason I am asking is that my fleet of Police Interceptors (2005 and 2006 model years)has had a rash of failures of this pulley and we need to only replace the alternator pulley and not the whole alternator. The units have been failing around 60K miles (engine miles are around 150K) I have been to my Ford dealer who supplies us with OME partsto see what they are using but found that they replace the whole unit if the pulley clutch fails.
Any help would be greatin that it saves the tax payers money on repairs.
Thanks

RE: Alternator Clutch Pulley Removal
Contact Saleen. They make a puller for the alternator pulley. Or, if you happen to know someone who has installed a Saleen SC they should have one.
As for Ford, as far as I know they don't keep one around. I know someone who contacted a couple of Ford dealers looking for one and had no luck.
