Yeah, it's an ancient thread, but it's refreshing to see a newbie to the site hunt down existing topics and actually read through them.

Props to 13GT (and BTW, don't overlook the suspension once you have some idea what you might want it to be able to do better - DON'T just throw parts at it simply because you can).

It's really easy to hit $4k with basic stuff

Engine & powertrain - $700-ish

Wheels & tires - $1800 or so

Suspension - around $1500 (and I'm still on the OE springs)

Getting ready to do my first mod - EXHAUST - and with all the various choices as I just read from everyone's post, my head is spinning. I am leaning towards doing a simple muffler delete. I was told this is the way to go for my 2013 because of the following:
1- Headers are a waste of money with no gains (told by Ford service director)
2- A muffler delete sounds just as good as the other systems on the market for much less
My last issue is excessive back pressure from doing this, can anybody speak to this as well please?
Thanks!

I recently sold my 2002 and ordered a 2013 Track Pack. The guy that I spoke to specializes in Mustang tuning. According to him a CAI is not a big difference on the 2013, the factory one is pretty good. He contradicted your #1 though as he said headers and a tune are the 2 best mods for HP to value gain.

$1700 on tires

Next on the list are some engine mods now that the suspension is set

Well in 07 I said I was done. I've spent $800 since then in tuner+tunes, $500 for frpp throttle body, another couple hundred on suspension and soon $300 for front struts and mounts.
