Default Trade In Value of an '06 GT???

Hey guys & girls,

I have a 2006 GT Premium, and I was wondering what you guys think it would be worth on a trade in.

2006 Mustang GT Premium (purchased new, 11/06)

12,400 miles

Satin Silver Metallic, Dark Charcoal Interior w/ Crimson Red Leather

Optional Equipment:

Automatic Transmission
18" Polished Alum. Bullitts w/ Pony Center Caps
Interior Color Accent Pkg. (Crimson Red Leather w/ red floormats)
Interior Upgrade Pkg w/ Satin Alum. Panel
Active Anti- Theft System ( also Interior Lighted Bezel & 60 Amp Battery w/ heatshield)
Wheel Locking Kit
Front Seat Side Airbags

(Also has a dealer installed Lo-Jack)

2k miles after purchase, had FRPP FR1 Power Pack installed by dealer (have stock mufflers and airbox, might return to stock and sell FRPP kit)

MSRP was $30,220.00 ($31,515 w/ Lo Jack aka : additional "Dealer Added Equipment") ...got it out the door for $27k w/ 1k dealer rebate!)

All maintenance performed by dealer, have receipts. (Oil and filter changed every 3k, tires rotated every 6k miles) Car is like brand new.

Kelley Blue Book (kbb.com) quoted $22,625 trade- in price for excellent condition, $21,390 for good condition (it is in excellent condition)

I know Kelley quotes kinda high, so I was wondering what you guys think a real world figure should be???

BTW: I'm jonesin' for a 5speed manual, and I've seen one that caught my eye at my dealer, so if I don't get beat up at trade in (I owe Ford $17k on the loan), I'd like to have something left over to put down on the '08, otherwise forget it. I'd like to have a "heads-up" before I go in and inquire.

Lot of info here (too much? LOL) Thanks for any input, it is much appreciated!!!

I believe that on a trade-in you're going to be so far upside-down in contrast to amount you owe that it would be financially detrimental. Anytime I've owned a car for less than three years, I've been upside-down when trying to trade -- no matter the brand or mileage or appearance.

Edit: I apologize -- I didn't see at first the part that you only owe $17,000 at this point. You might come out even.

I say try to sell it privatly first, if you have the time to do it, you'll always get more for it that way.
otherwise around 20,000 ish, should sell for around 25,000ish

If the stealership knows you owe $17K on your car, they will low ball you until you either give in or tell them to shove it. My guess is they'll offer you $18-19K, they won't want to carry over $3Ktowards the new car if they can help it. As suggested above, sell it privately(you should get around $22-24K for it with all the goodies still attached). With what you owe, you should have a minimum of $4,500-5000 to put down on an '08 GT IMO. Hope all works in your favor

Thanks guys, for the input! I can't sell privately, I want to act on this one car in dealer stock,(black GT Deluxe, 17" bright Bullitts, spoiler delete, 5 spd manual w/ a Shaker 500) and also Ford has a $1,000 rebate deal only good until 10-31-07, I want to take advantage of it! Also, with the car being a GT Deluxe,($27.717) and with the rebate,(-$1,000) the price is right, otherwise I would not be even thinking of doing this! BTW, I tried selling my car privately , and for one week, did not get one inquiry! (Ad was on autotrader).
