Default Cabin air filter

Couple of questions re: the cabin air filters (supposed to be there to filter out gunk through your air conditioning/outside air vents, at least in the '07s)...

1) Does anyone know what the recommended mi./timeframe is for changing these?

2) Anyone know what the cost is to get the replacement air filters?

3) Is it easy to do, or a pain in the butt?

I ask this because I'm thinking I probably need to change the filter in my car soon. There's been incredible amounts of junk in the air over the past few days here in Southern California, like ash, soot, etc. (My GT's my DD) and I've got a feeling that it's clogged pretty good. Rather than let the stealership do this change for me and charge me an arm & a leg to boot, I'd rather do it myself.

Thanks, man... I figured it was fairly easy, and I couldn't justify paying some grease monkey to do it for me.

They have them at the dealer for anywhere from $20 to $30, depending on how much the dealer wants to rip you off. I got a couple at http://www.micronair.us/Ford+-+Linco...y+-+Jaguar/149 . They are about $10 each. When I ordered the shipping was the same for one or two, about $6. So I got 2 with shipping for $26.

I have also seen them at Pepboys, made by purolator, I don't remember the price.

I definitely need to change mine. No need to give the stealership more money.

I figure it'll be another week or two at least before I change it; I'll be waiting until the So Cal fires are out first. There's still a lot of ash being kicked up that will just be clogging the new filter; no sense in changing it, then having to go change it again in 2 weeks.

Which reminds me, I'll probably need to change the air filter too...I keep wanting to wait to do that until I get my CAI/Tuner, so I'm not wasting money on the paper filters.

I changed mine at about 20K miles and was AMAZED at how much crap was in the filter. Suddenly the A/C blew like it was new again.
