I don't a lot about the differential or gears. What does this mod accomplish? Just giving you a drain and fill plug? Is there something performance about the studs? Do they hold the bearings in place better? Thanks.

Do you have a stock panhard rod, or do you have one of the aftermarket ones?

Does anyone know if this is compatible with the BMR panhard rod?

it just gives you a fill and drain plug, otherwise it is appearance only

It does make the rear end a little stronger, I guess it wouldn't flex as much or something, But I wanted it for the drain plug.

So on the jam nuts for the load bolts, my socket won't fit it's too big around for the opening, what socket did you use, do you have a thin walled one? and where did you get it? Thanks, Fosman

Argonaut, I don't remember where I got the gasket from but if you Google Lube Locker LLR-F880 you'll see thatmost vendors are selling them for close to$16.

cbrstng08, evidently the FRPP girdle and the bearing cap stud kit work together to strengthen the rear end in three ways: The studsallow for a stronger attachment ofthebearing caps to the differential housing,theload bolts from the girdle provide further buttress by lightly compressingthe the tops of the bearing caps, and finally like Burnsy said the thick wall of the girdle allows for less flexion of the girdle and therefore less flexion of the whole girdle-pumpkin assembly. The FRPPs girdle's increased capacity for gear oil appears to lower operating temperatures as well. The benefits of easier fill and drain access have already been mentioned.

ponyman, I have the stock panard bar (I like the offset axle, kinda like a gangsta walking with an affected limp) so I don't know about the BMR clearance with the FRPP girdle.

fosman, I have no idea what socket I torqued the jam nuts with, but must've been one of the sockets from the mystery of rust pile I have out in the garage.
