Default Raspiness of my LTs...

I finally got my LT's installed...boost brothers LTs with the O/R X-pipe and magnaflow mufflers.

I love the way they sound at throttle, but when I rev the car up in nuetral, or shift gears, there's a nasty, raspy high pitched sound as the car winds down.

It actually kind of seems to go away when the car heats up though...?

Anyways, I was wondering if adding some SLP Loudmouth II resonators before the magnaflows would help? Or eliminating the magnaflows all together with the SLPs?? I don't mind how loud it is so much as I do that rasp

Try changing the X to an H. X pipes tend to make the exhaust note sound raspy.

i had the exact same problem...what i did was put magnaflow magnapacks before the axles and make a mid muffler system...then, i also left the bassani's at the back of the car...now there's no rasp what so ever...it still sounds loud with a very deep tone to it like the 2v engines have.

I heard about the x to h pipe, and i also heard about moving the mufflers in front of the axle. I don't really want to run two mufflers on each side.

Does anyone have experience with LTs/Xpipe/SLP Resonators??

I'm thinkin about just doing away with the magnaflows. I don't really want to get rid of teh xpipe right now simply because I don't wanna have to deal with Pypes again in order to get an Hpipe. I didn't like their damn service at all and stuff took forever to get to me and get done.

So ya, any experience with just resonators eliminating this? Or maybe resonators before the axles and the magnaflows still behind them?

Damn thing sounds pretty bad (not a good "bad") when I back off teh throttle at higher RPMs. It does seem to go away though after the cars been running for 15 minutes or so...???

Here are 2 videos that will hopefully help. I had Borla stingers on the car before, but switched them to Pypes mid-mufflers due to excessive trumpeting.

Hot Rod Cams go in on Tuesday. Do you think that'll eliminate the raspiness?? Mine sounds just like the first post with sound clips when I let off.

If the Hot Rod cams will stop it, i'll just wait, but otherwise should I just try and put the mufflers before the axle first??

well, i'm on a bit of a budget...the wife is already pissed about how much the headers and gears set me back, and the Marine Corps doesn't exactly pay that great so I'm not tryin to spend money where I don't need to. I love the WOT sound, but I hate the sound when I let off at high RPMs or rev it up and let it wind down.

So if simply moving the mufflers up works, I'll be at the Hobby Shop on base doin that this week.

If that won't work, then I'll get the SLPs.

But I also wanna know more about the cams possibly clearing it up...???
