Default Curious on handling between 06 GT and Termi

So a guy local to me just put up his 03 terminator up for sale and he is interested in trading for my 06 GT. I plan on going to look at it and probab;ly a test drive, but I was looking for opinions on the handling differences in the two cars. I am pretty happy with my set up now and just want to know how the 03 cobra suspension compares. (and any other thoughts about this)

They don't even compare. The 03 is a shorter car with IRS and factory rated 90 hp more.

Stock for stock the 03 should run circles around your 06. But with some decent mods the SRA can perform just as well as the IRS.

The biggest advantage will be the shorter wheelbase of the 03 allowing it to turn tighter.

Actually the turning circle of the SN95 steering is awfully wide unless you powerslide it. The S197 can turn much tighter despite the longer wheelbase, and that's down to the vastly improved front suspension set-up compared to the SN95.
Granted, the Terminator has IRS but it's a low-cost version that doesn't compare to the IRS on the '15 model.
Ask yourself this question. Why would this guy be keen to trade his Terminator for your GT if his was the better car?

That's what I'm kinda thinking. The extra power would be really nice, but it doesn't have the fit and finish. I also have a bit of work in my suspension and don't want to loose that.

How many miles are on each vehicle? If the terminator has fairly low miles and has been well taken care of, I would probably prefer it. I really like those terminators. It's just personal preference, although the KBB on your cars will probably be pretty close.

Then it's better to stick to the devil you know than to gamble on the devil you don't.

The SVT Cobra falls into the same SCCA Street category autocross class as the S197 GT. I'm using Street category here because there are almost no modifications permitted so you get a good comparison between the basic chassis of both cars. At the top of this sport, nobody runs the SVT, which should tell you something even if the Termi is in 'perfect' condition.
