I posted a thread a while back with the same problem. It has NOTHING to do with startup.

Mine does it when idleing. Sometimes it makes the noise and sometimes it doesn't??? When I pulled up to show one of my friends the car we popped the hood and then heard it. He told me he thinks maybe I didn't break it in right, or else there is going to be a big recall. I told him I think it's because of the new 3 valve design.

Also I have heard from many people who have had the same problem.

CONCLUSION: either this is normal for this engine or there is going to be a big recall...But if it makes you feel better. Many people have the same knocking.
