I'm curious, what is causing the price for this to be so high? Maybe it's not too high, just seems so to me. I got to say it is a pretty neat mod though.
It's called GREED; especially on the part of the Web Electric guy. The harness I got was obviously a used part. It even had some grease stains on one of the sockets and the harness has an older manufacture date than my original one. He's making a killing on every one he sells. I wasn't too happy about getting a used harness after spending $179, but I'm happy with the results and it is an extremely easy install. But it shouldn't cost more than about $80, realistically. Would I buy it again at that price, knowing that it's a used harness? Not even! I'd wait for someone to offer one at a much lower cost or I would wait for someone to post in a forum how to do it with some parts from Radio Shack.

GT Premi,

Did you ask them about it? I'm curious what there response would have been. I think if they advertise as a new harness and it is used that has to be some kind of refund coming back to you on the cost. It does jive though, it sounds like that is why they're offering the 40.00 rebate on your existing harness. I agree with you it sounds like way to much profit taking here.....

I didn't even bother to call and complain. I can't stand listening to people try to tap dance their way out of their lies. But I don't think the website mentions anything about a core charge, though, and I don't recall it stating that they're new harnesses.

Sometimes what's not said is just as important, if not more so, as what is said.

Here, call Ford, ask them how much new tail light harnesses cost. Get a dollar figure, each side is likely $50 or more...

Most companies won't be mass producing custom harnesses, they would simply take ones already there and modify them.
