Yeah it's really funny how everytime someone wants opinions regarding the Saleen S/C's on this site everyone says that they suck. Then you have a shootout in MM&FF and the series VI running 14lbs of boost blows all the turbo setups running 15-20lbs. Pretty funny. Jim D'Amore knows how to tune that Saleen VI!
Different power adders, different engine works, different builds. Snap a turbo and you will get more hp/tq.

Actually, yeah, Justin Burcham won the shootout running 25lbs of boost from a Procharger F1R/150 shot nitrous. He weighed in at 3786lbs and ran a 9.4/9.3/9.054.

Jim D'Amore with his Saleen Speedlab/JDM Engineering car was running 14lbs of boost through a Series VI. He weighed in at 3778lbs and ran 10.044/9.883/9.880.

All the other turbo/boosted cars were behind them.

Yeah, I've got the mag in front of me . I was really surprised to see the Saleen s/c do so well (especially with only 14lbs boost).

The bad thing about comparing things in that magazine were that most of the people were running stroker motors...which will somewhat skew comparisons between power adders since not all of the configurations were identical...
I definitely agree with you on that one. Every car had a different setup (heads, some poked, some stroked, autos, sticks) so you can't really compare apples=apples. It was kind of cool to see the saleen do well though.

Justin and the others are no longer running stock engines. Justime blew his up at 15 psi after about 20 1/4 runs and who knows how many dyno pulls.

I would be very interested to see how long the engine lasts at 20 psi.
