Default DIY Spoiler Delete

Before I get a bunch of posts about how people don't like the look of this, and I should have just ordered my Mustang with the spoiler delete option, let me explain my choice.
1) I didn't want to wait 8 weeks (or more).
2) The spoiler I wantutilizes the stock holes.
3) I much prefer the way my car looks now, rather than with the stock spoiler.

I thought I would post this because I had a hard time finding any information about covering the stock spoiler holes. Any threads I found on the subject got a lot of the same responses - order the spoiler delete, or fill/paint the holes.
So, I went to Lowe's and picked up some automotive plugs and some silicone and decided I would try my luck. Worst case scenario, I would just put the spoiler back on. Here's how it came out....

And a close up...

The little plugs I got came in black, so I didn't paint them. But if your car's not black, you could just paint them with some touch up paint.

Looks good, I took mine off as well. I used 4 small bolts/nuts painted to fill the holes. I also picked up some neoprene washers to put on either side of the bolt to prevent leaking. I think the plugs look a little better and may switch it out when it warms up a little.

See...
You don't have to listen to others telling you buying another deck lid.
You found your own way and it worked.

the plugs look pretty good; rather ingenious! i definitely prefer those over the bolt option utilized by the second poster (no offense goody625 )

Why not just buy a used spoilerless trunk lid instead of using half-azzed plugs?

I thought I made it clear in my first post, but I'll re-iterate.
1) My option cost me a total of about $5
2) The spoiler that I want to eventually put on the car utilizes the stock spoiler holes
3) I think that what I have looks better than the stock spoiler

But hey, thanks for stopping by and calling my mod half-azzed!

I think the mustang looks very "bare" with noting on the back. Somehow something is missing. But to say it looks bad? No way!

i disagree.

"half-azzed," or perhaps, "half-assed":
"–adjective, slang: vulgar.
1. insufficient or haphazard; not fully planned or developed.
2. incompetent; lacking sufficient ability or knowledge."

the op's mod hardly qualifies ; it looks rather well executed.
