Quarter mile times

RE: Quarter mile times
Altitude also makes a HUGE difference. For example the track here is at 2200' and stock S197 GTs typically run between 14.5 and 14.8. The best I've seen here from a stock S197 GT was 14.1 and that guy was a patricularly good driver with good track conditions and late in the fall. As near as I can tell going from at or close to sea level to 2200' seems to add almost a full second.

RE: Quarter mile times
All the stock mustangs I have raced seem to bearound 14 flat.CAI and gears mid 13s.With my 65 Dodge Dart I race 15 times a year I run low 12s and have raced several s197 mustangs and never seen one in the 12s not NA anyway. Maybe its the conditions, I race in Union Grove WI and Byron IL. I have yet to take my Mustang, but plan on it this year.

Density Altitude 2404' Results:
The following is from an excursion on a very slick track with less than ideal conditions.
The track was so slick the car was at times breaking traction a second time at 4500 rpm.
Thats with me still riding the clutch. I was slipping it about 30'.
Car had 850 mi on it and 100% Stock. We were just learning each other and it was still tight.
2.04 8.99 @ 77.5 13.876 @ 99.5
Sould be a least a tenth quicker with a typical weight driver.
Note: TM = Torque Management
The car runs better on a slick track stock because the TM wont allow full throttle untill after the clutch pedal is fully released.
For the best runs the TB has to be wide open right as the car hooks to avoid a bog.
You also have to "breathe" the throttle about 30% to avoid the TM shutting the throttle during theshift.

RE: Quarter mile times
as a point of reference, the new steeda q350 is claiming a 12.5 1/4 mile. i believe its mods include intake, tune, lca's, springs, maybe pullies..not sure if that was the one w/ the gear package either. anyway, if i recall correctly, it makes 350hp at the crank.

Back On Topic!:
I honestly believe I picked up 4/10 Second and 3 mph from the CAI/Tune.
These are my best corrected (to Sea Level Standard) numbers to take conditions out of the equation.
12.95 compared to 13.35
106.58 compared to 103.52
