Looking for 2005+ Mustang with a bad engine
Alright, so I'm looking to do a little engine swap. I have the 351w nearly done but haven't picked up a car yet for it.
I was looking at fox-stangs, but I thought it would be pretty sweet to put all that horsepower in a newer Mustang. The problem is, I don't want to dish out more money than I have too, so a car with a bad engine/fried electrical system would really cut down on the price.
Only problem is, I can't find any new Mustangs that fit the criteria except the "Scrap Vehicle" titled cars, which can't be retitled or even driven on the road...
If anyone has any leads, it would be really appreciated. I can work with a v6, v8, stick or auto. I currently own a '06 Torch Red V6, but I can't tear her apart...

Not true - you can, in fact, put a "salvage titled" car back on the road. Check with the DMV in your state, the requirements vary. In NYS there is a one hundred-some-odd point inspection that must be done by the DMV to ensure that it meets roadworthy criteria. Only problem? The title FOREVER says salvaged on it, and so it dramatically reduces the resale value of the car.
Also, seeing as how [almost] all the 05+ stangs are still under warranty, if it was a blown engine, it would be covered. OR - the engine was blown by someone making insane mods, like all of us, in which case they'd fix it or put in a new one, not scrap the car. I wouldn't think you'd be able to find one f/s with a blown engine for at least another year or two.
Either way, best of luck!
PS - check your local laws - I know NYS has issues with putting older engines in newer cars. The law here is that the engine has to be at least the same age, if not NEWER, than the vehicle it is going into... Emissions and blah blah..

Salvage title wouldn't be a problem. I wouldn't plan on selling the car anyway, but a "Scrap" title is an entirely different animal. Once deemed scrap, a car can never be re-titled.
As for the legality, I would either title the car in Wisconsin (No emissions testing) or I'd really have to do some carefull vin-swapping here in Chicago.
