recalibrate computer
I understand that when the MAF is replaced (as in most aftermarket intakes for the GT right now) the computer will require a reflash to adjust to the new MAF.
Has anyone that has pulled out the intake catalyst and replaced the airbox with a cone filter tried simply unplugging the battery for about 30 minutes and plugging it back up to see if the computer will automatically recalibrate itself for the new airflow? (ie. no check engine light) It seems odd to me that this little change in airflow is enough to max out the MAF or go far enough out of stock specs that a flash is truely required.
Also, someone already stated that when they removed the catalyst, it didn't throw a check engine light and his car felt more responsive. This tells me his car adjusted to the airflow..or it's really slow to diagnose itself and hasn't turned on the engine light yet.
