Yes! This thread is back! I missed it.

Shockwave, your car is amazing, love the new pics. Someone PM'ed me about 24mm offset wheels last week, hopefully they see this thread.

hey I'm new to the site & have a yellow 06 gt... I plan on doing the mach1 stripe kit & the 18" magnum 500 wheels (18x10 & 18x9) ... after seeing the pics on this tread, what are your opinions on buying the wheels with the 99-04 offset opposed to the 05 & up offset?

the 99-04 offset will sometimes kick the tires out farther then what would be 'recommended' (depending on the width of the wheel); for a 05+ mustang, it's probably best to stick with wheels designed for the 05+ . but, like mikey said, if done right, the 99-04 offset looks great. (on a side note, i'm planning to get 18x9 magnums in the near future too, definitely the best retro-looking wheel )

and to shockwave... how did you get your front pony emblem black? is it an aftermarket one, or did you paint it?

Sorry for bringing up an old thread...but I'm searching around and am getting more confused!

I am searching now for my next mod (new wheels/tires)! I absolutely love the 18" look with thick rubber as opposed to 20" with thin sidewalls.

Questions:

What does it mean "if done right" with the 99-04 offset? Would I need anything suspension wise to ensure stiffness or spacing? Most running 18x10 all around with this offset?

I'm lowered with Eibach Prokit with stock shocks.
Currently on stock wheels with 18" Fanblades.

I'm looking at getting the 99-04 offset look like the black saleen's on this board, OR at 05+ deep dish bullets with 295/45/18 rears and 255/45/18 fronts. (Member: Darkfire has the 05+ look I want too)

Plan is to run Nitto 555s on a non-daily driver that puts on 3-4K miles per year.

Thanks for the help.

^^^ i consider it 'done right' when the car has that type of offset wheel and is lowered; if your car isn't lowered, and you have that offset, you get an even worse looking fender well gap. having that stance and lowering your car eliminates the gap and makes for an awesome looking ride

Ohhh ok...Would there be any risk of going with the 99-04 offset with Eibach Prokit on Stock Shocks? Like getting to much movement causing rubbing?

Thanks!

i wouldn't think so... other than the stock shocks wearing out sooner since they are being compressed more from being lowered. you should be ok, overall
