Default "Bunching problem with Roush hood scoop and vinyl stripes

Anyone with the Roush scoop installed over vinyl stripes from BSM (or other vendor) have "bunching" of the stripes from the scoop? I have the scoop (not installed yet) but read that it causes bunching if applied on vinyl stripes - I actually saw it on a friends car with this setup - pretty noticeable. I would like to do both. Thanks for any feedback or solutions.

They bunch.

Does no good sitting in the box.

Sad but true they do bunch up under the Roush and the factory scoop like mine. I asked Rob at BSM if there was a fix. I asked if he would make a set that was cut out around the scoop but he said no, there is no problem. Oh well, so much for his great reputation in my eyes.

JUST emailed him about this and a kit they have that "seems" to be positioned to avoid bunching. I would think the one that is "cut out" for the Roush scoop would not have this problem...

Yours looks pretty bad - that really s*cks!!! Same thing (exactly) happened to my friend.

I have the Roush scoop (not installed yet) but it seems you can't have both (scoop and stripes)

I'll post his reply.

Thanks for the pics!

You guys can always send the bottom front corners off a tad so it doesn't push against the vinyl so much.

Rob is doing a special cut now for the Shelby and GT hood scoops. At this time it is only for the dual stripes I believe - and a certain car is probably going to be the test mule fora Roush scoop and Shelby Superstripe once the weather warms up a little.

Jim thanks for the info. I went to the BSM site and they show the stripe with the hood scoop cut out but I wonder if its on the outside of the scoop. Looks like it is because you can see the holes for the screws and pins are inside a ways.

Heres the photo from BSM showing the cut out. I'll be ordering this updated piece to replace my bunched ones. Thanks to Rob for finally making this change.

for those with the Roush hood scoop:

I sent my Roush scoop off to Rob at BSM last month and he custom cut the stripes to go around it. So he now offers stripes to fit around the scoop to avoid bunching. I'm fixing to put them on soon and will let you know how they work out.
