Default Ringing metal noise at cold start up

It only happens when its cold out, but as soon as I start her up in the morning, all I hear is a ringalingatinglingring noise. Kinda like 2 metal pieces rubbing together at high speed. Anyway, once the engine warms up, it's completely gone. My co-worker said his 4.6 F-150 did the same thing and that it had to do with the exauhst clamps. Anyone else getting this problem?

Mine has a sound something like what your describing. I climbed under the car and it turned out to be the heatshields between the exhaust and the underbody were loose. I tightened them up and about a week later the noise came back so now im just waiting for them to fall off ...

Ya it is a 5-speed. Is that what it was? A sharp, metallic ringing noise at start up on cold days? I really don't think it's the clutch because it shifts fine. All I know is the car is completely fine when it heats up. You guys think I should take it to the dealer?

yes it was a sharp rubbing noise and my car was shifting fine, it was comming from the throw out bearing.

I just bought a 5 speed 2006 GT and it does the same thing, its only when the car is cold, it goes away once it warms up. It sounds like the clutch plates are brushing against somthing while they are spinning. If I push the clutch pedal in, the noise changes slightly, then as it warms up, the noise gets quieter. If you push the clutch in at this point, the noise comes back, then after its warm its gone. I read somewhere that the clutch cables can stretch, and that if I change the clutch cable it should fix this. Did you ever solve this issue on your 2005 GT, or does anyone know what the fix is? Thanks
