$375 with tune and PC interface cable to download tunes from the internet. And yes, the K&N filter can be put on there as well as the removal of the vapor trap.

Does anyone have this?

Someone said that many online programs work with the XCal.

Does the XCal include any type of interface that allows you to set your own tunes on the PC or do you have to download one from somewhere?

I was hoping to be able to write my own tunes (I'm a programmer, so it really interests me), but I wasn't sure this would give you that ability.

This is a question about the SCT -> PC cable... Is that a standard serial (RS-232, I think) cable? It looks like it would be. Or, is it something special?

I mean, geez, I could buy that at Best Buy for about $30 vice the $65 - 75 some places are charging (I didn't get the cable with the SCT, I ordered straight through Steeda).

This serial cable has an ac to dc power pack wired into the end that hooks to the Xcalibrator. This is required to power up the box while loading and unloading tunes. The box uses power from the OBD II plug to power itself when uploading to your car. You have to use SCT's software to upload tunes and you can only make small adjustments to the emailed tunes. You can not remove files already on the box for tweaking. You have to overwrite the files with new ones. You can make changes to the tire size, gear ratio, rev limit, Auto trans shift firmness ( although I have never felt the difference), shift scheduling (which I have never figured out how to use), and timing ajustments. You can also take off the speed limiter. If you want more control then this you have to buy their racer package and I don't know what the cost is. I paid $50.00 for my serial cable from my dealer.

So if it uses power from the ODB II plug in the car, in theory then you can use a laptop with a standard serial cable and the Xcalibrator will still be powered by the cars ODB II plug?

out of fear that my car may attempt to load a tune while I'm in the middle of saving it... I simply plan to get a small AC inverter that plugs into your power socket...

Actually, now that I think of it (and it's prolly good that I did think of it)... I think I'll get a bit larger inverter (hopefully that still plugs into the power socket) so I can keep my laptop charged and run the XCal at the same time...
