Default Replace Shaker with DVD Player

I'm looking to replace my shaker 500 stereo with an in dash DVD Player. Has put in an aftermarket head unit on an 05 yet? I want to know what other things I'm going to have to replace: speakers, amps etc.?

Over at the www.the12volt.com forums there is a 7 page discussion on a 05 Mustang install.
Sorry to link to another forum, but good info!

Thanks for the link, however that post went really in depth on speakers, and I'm trying to find out if I can just do the head unit upgrade first and then upgrade the speakers in phases later due to budget ect... Here's what i'm looking for....

Has anyone here pulled out a shaker500 from their 05 and installed aftermarket stuff in its place?

I'm looking to install a Alpine head unit, xm direct tuner, and an ipod controller. I want reg radio, xm, and my ipod at my finger tips.

I'd prefer to replace/upgrade speakers later for time and budget concerns. Is their wiring information / a harness out there that will allow me to pull out the shaker head unit, replace it with a "mount" for the alpine head unit and assecories?

Anyone have pics or directions of an install? Anyone have advise on what kit wiring junk to buy?

Thanks

- J

Better check your local gov't rules. Any DVD player put into the front seat passenger area in my 'burg is illegal. GPS systems are the only DVD function allowed.

They're pretty strict around here about it since so many accidents were occuring as a result. I think the first offense is a $5,000 fine. Any report from another driver or if any cop sees you with one, they are going after people.

The laws are not my concern. The DVD player I'm installing (Pioneer AVC N-2) shuts down at 5 mph as the GPS tracks the car. Its the complication of the install that I want to know about.

DRIBZ- I see you had an install done. I could not tell you you were replacing a shaker system. If so, was the install same as any other ford? Did you lose the stock amplifiers after connecting the new unit? Any complications? - details would be appreciated.
