I just looked at the inventories of some Toronto dealers, and you sure aren't kidding about GTs sitting around in lots. I think I'm going to have to take a road trip in the near future...

Dude, there is a real big ordering difference between the two vehicles. I order in Jan. and received mine Apr. 5. I was quoted the week of the 4th, my dealer was right the money with the delivery time.

And yes, it's a GT

I just ordered a 2005/2006 Mustang GT on 4/17/2005. My options are: Premium package, Shaker 1000, Interior Upgrade Package, Side Mounted Airbags, and Alarm system. The car is Black on Black. The dealer told me 4-6 months, and of course I am willing to wait for what I want. They were not sure if it was going to come as a 2005 or a 2006. So how long does everyone think it will take? I think they might have given me a long wait time to try and hoax me into buying a 6er(was'nt gonna happen). Anyway, so I want to hear what the legidement deal is.
Out of sheer curiosity, how much did you have to fork over for your GT?

This is to all of you guys waiting and waiting....

Here is what I did... I waited. They told me 8-12 weeks. After 8 weeks no build date or serial number. I ordered mine in January.

Come March 5th I said screw it and started making phone calls. I called about 40-50 dealers a day and eventually found exactly what I ordered. I found it on March 15th and picked it up March 17th. I was willing to give up a few options if I had to. But I didn't have to.

My advice is get on the horn and start calling dealers. I was willing to fly anywhere in the country for mine but I only had to go about 800 miles away.

Oh... and I paid MSRP, without a dealer markup. ((Rip off I call it))

If you do this you may need to pay 1/2 the tax ((in cash)) to your state and 1/2 the tax to the state where you purchased the vehicle. This was my case. I was going to put down $10k but put a little less down payment on the financed portion to cover the tax I had to pay my state is all.

Good luck... and if you need advice on how to find one let me know.. I learned a few tricks finding mine.

I searched all over South and Central Florida and I could'nt even find one that was black on black. My car's msrp was around 28g for capin. If any of you run into a car with my specifications, and don't want it for yourself, please let me know. I am willing to have car shipped to me from anywere, its better than waiting 4-6 months. Thanks for all the advice. I would also like to know 05bullit's tips. Peace

Alrighty, I just got some new information. I called one of the other local dealers in South Florida and they told me that they had a couple 2005 Mustang GT's pre- ordered, that I can still choose my options on. They said that the cars are selling for MSRP and it would only take about 8-9 weeks opposed to the 4-6 months. Is this possible or are they just pulling my leg? The first dealer said that they would give me my $500 deposit back, if I wanted it so this is a possibility.
