Default Throttle Body Removal?

I have done a search and have read the threads about the problems with aftermarket throttle bodys and have decided against that step. However, I would like to possible remove mine and get it painted with my valve covers.

I read in a few post there was a problem with the screws snapping during removal. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions for the removal and reinstall of the stock throttle body?

Thanks in advance for the help.

On the 4.6L V8 Engine, you will have2 bolts on the top &2 nuts on the bottom. You will need a new throttle body O-Ring once you haveremoved it from the intake manifold. I hope this is enough info for you......

And it's 4 bolts, not 2 of each.

Never hurts to replace it, just give it a nice look over if it looks good then dont replace.

Thanks for all the tips, keep them coming. I'm hoping I don't snap off any screws when removing them.

Should I also remove the throttle body gear before I send it to paint? I'm assuming thats the name of the large placstic piece bolted to the side of the throttle body.

There is a post on here that was around for a while (quite recently too) about someone that painted his valve covers, fuel rail, and TB. I believe he just taped that off and didn't remove it.

I forget the title of the thread, but it wasn't long ago.. Its got some good pics for you

If you do remove it, please read the Ford worksshop manual about
the steps required to get it back on correctly. I have read horror
stories about breaking it from not getting the spring or gears
clocked right and parts snapping or DTCs being thrown after assembly.
