Do the Champions really need the anti seize? Do you just put it on for peice of mind? Where and how much did you get it for.

The anti seize is from Motorcraft that I brought at the local Ford Dealer. I believe it was around 16.00. Even though the Champions are one piece, carbon will still build up around the tips and over a period of time make it tough to get them out. You could do damage to the aluminum threads in the head. Pretty cheap insurance.

Haven't installed mine yet (just replaced the stockers a month or two ago), but figured I'd check the gap on them. Two or three of then were at .38, so definitely check the gap before installing.
BTW, is it critical to be exact with the gap? Appararently I'm not great at gapping, cause iftry to get it to .044 from .045, I overdo it and go to like .049. I don't want to keep bending the electrode back and forth. Afew are at .045, most at .044. Can I leave them like that or doI have to be exact?

Ford has only one size. You may be able to buy smallersizes at Auto Parts stores. Just make sure it is Nickel antisieze because of the high tempertures involved.
Concerning the plug gap I would gap all of them at .045. There is a tool that makes it pretty simple that Wal mart or a Parts place has. You just place the plug on it and turn to the correct gap. Just be careful not to damage the porcelan electrodes.

RE: 7989 Champions
WOOHOO!!! The Mustang gods were with me today!! I changed out my plugs on my GT 12500 miles. WHAT A STRESSFUL SOB!! I warmed the engine, soaked the plugs in Seafoam Deep Creep. They felt like they were put in with animpactwrench. Once they broke loose, I worked them back and forth, they came out easily. Two of them pushed 40 lbs to break loose, the rest were about 35 lbs. All came out in one piece and did have some carbon on them, but the deep creep did its job, the carbon dissolved right after they loosened. I just wanted to say TY for all the information I gained here from everyone! Of course not all was perfect, one plug popped out of the rubber in the socket and hit the floor, dead square on the electrode, so I have to get one more[:@].

Lifter, you think 12.5k is stressful? Try 38k, or even 96k like that one guy who had none break!
Also, you are very lucky. Pushing them to 40 lbs wasn't very smart, anything above 30 or 33 (per the TSB) you should turn back a half turn and put more penetrating oil in...lucky lucky haha...Good choice on the Deep Creep. Worked well for me.

Sailing, I soaked them all for 3 hrs before even trying to move them. Once I broke them loose, and the deep creep got in, they backed out easily. I CANT imagine what it would be like with higher miles.
