RE: 17 inch tires
I just have the stock Pirellis. I think you can only go one size wider, to 245, so it's not going to make too much difference.
Most folks go wider when they get wider and bigger rims.
Might be interesting to see how curved the sidewalls get with oversized rubber. Anyone do 255 or bigger?

Biggest recommended for a 17x8 rim is a 255/50/17.
Marginally better than stock especially if get one with like a 120 treadwear rating. I think Nitto Invo's are around there.
Good luck.

Yep. I have 255/50/17's on the rear of my GT with factory bullet rims. I just put them on so haven't taken any pictures yet but I will try to get some for you tonight. I think it made a big difference. It looks more aggressive from the back.

The 255/50/17 Invo's fit fine, and traction is much improved. I have about 10k hard miles on them and expect maybe 5-7k more. They have a 260 treadwear rating.

Do you think it is worth doing?
Thanks,

RE: 17 inch tires
With that kind of power I would get different wheels. I have 17x9 rims and am having a hell of a time finding tires for them. I wanted to keep the stock pirellis up front and get something wider out back but everything is so low profile that the rear end will end up sitting lower than the front. 275/50/17 would be perfect but only Falken and Nitto 450 are available and neither one of them is real desireable from what I've read.
I've given up and decided to get 18x10 wheels for the back and Nitto 555 295/45. Once the rear stock pirellis wear out.

I hear ya, and in the end I will end up with 18x10's or 20x10's in the rear, but like I said I cant decide what wheels I want so this is a stop gap.
He is making 500rwhp according to his sig, so if he thinks they are ok, they should be fine for me. I want something that is less prone to spin the top of second.
I dont think there is a street tire around that will take a TS full bore in first. Too much torque. Second would be nice though.

RE: 17 inch tires
If you guys want more options in 17's then start emailing the manufacturers!!!!!!! I emailed falken asking them to make one of their max performance tires in a 27 inch diameter. I'll even take it in 255/50/17, but i'd rather see 275 or 295 because I have some 17x9's I could use.
those nitto invos look goofy.
