Long Term Impact of CAI/SCT
Wanted to get youropinion regarding the long term impact of running a tune on your car. I have been running my 93 Brenspeed tune for about 8,000 miles. I plan on keeping the car for a long time....will this tune effect the longevity of my engine? I have never had the car dynoed....as I am trusting in the quality of the Brenspeed Brand.

the tune itself will not affect the longevity of your engine, it is all in the way you drive it and how you take care of it. If you take it easy, it will last "forever"...if you romp on it every day and drive the **** out of it, it will wear out faster. I have had most of my mods and a dyno tune for the better part of 60,000 miles and not one problem

No, it's not going to effect it. If anything the tune will allow your motor to run longer. How you drive it is going to affect the engine longevity.

Thanks for the feedback. What about changing tunes (93 vs. 87) will the different octanes effect your engine life. Right now, I am staying with 93 because I don't want to go back and forth with different gas grades. Nonetheless, considering gas prices I am considering swithing to 87.

Recently someone did a gas mileage comparison with the different grades, and based on his numbers when the gas prices hit about $4.25+/- a gallon, and the price differential stays about $0.25 then the 93 octane with better mileage will start to be the better deal....I'm switching back to the 93 tune this weekend!

Anything you add to your car that is not OEM/factory installed has the possibility of affecting the longevity of your car. Ford put the car through rigorous tests as it sits before the 2005 model year came out and I'm sure c&l, JLT, or even K&N didn't buy a car and do similar R&D tests to insure longevity. I'm positive they just looked at dyno numbers and promptly shipped their product. You have a chance of affecting the lifespan of your car by modding it. Now, I can live with those consequences because I am mechanically able and I like to go fast, real fast.

Chances are, it probably won't (though as the previous poster stated, you are possibly adding a small risk)... at least not within 150,000 miles. So I'd say it's worth it no doubt.
