As a side story to me finally getting a 2005 Mustang GT, I also heard from the dealer where I originally ordered the car. Evidently, Ford has released it for shipment and it should be in San Diego in a week or so. The salesman was understandably disappointed that I bought a car somewhere else, but I told him i would spread the word about it arriving in the next week or so.
So, if you happen to be in San Diego (or SoCal area), here is an insiders tip that an unclaimed GT (Order #0836) will be available very soon. If you want it, call Bobby Gee at Perry Ford in Poway, CA. His cell number is 858-231-4057. I told him I was going to post this message. He is a good guy, and he was going to sell it to me at MSRP (~$29K w/all options), I'm sure he will do the same for you. BTW, the specs on the car are:
2005 Mustang GT Premium Coupe
Sonic Blue Clearcoat Metallic
5R55S 5-Speed Automatic
Dark Charcoal Leather Interior
Interior Upgrade Package
Shaker 500 Stereo
Active Anti-Theft System
17" Bright Machined Cast Aluminum Wheels, w/locks
Front Side Airbags
It looks exactly like this one:

Thank you Dan, for posting this. I called the guy and, fortunately for me, no one had contacted him yet. I went to see him 30 minutes after I called him and got the car. It was almost the exact car I had ordered in mid January from another dealer (different color). Now I should have the car in a week to ten days. I'm really looking forward to it.

I got an e-mail from Bobby Gee Friday evening telling me it was sold. I'm glad it went to someone here on this Forum

I prefer the automatic because the car is barely big enough for me as it is. I'm a bit long legged and it would be a pain in the butt to operate the clutch with so little clearance space.

Dear Don:
Glad to hear the good news about getting your ride...
I have many friends in the San Diego area (LA Jolla and North of the city, so I'll have to look for you when I visit again...
I too ordered a new 2005 GT in December 2004 and was told the the "My Color" was on hold, so I contacted another dealer who said that he could get the exact car that I wanted...
I purchased that car the very next day and went back to the original dealer and got my deposit back...
Took ownership late in February 2005...
Now, I love my car but also thinking very seriously about selling it in order to get a GT500 next year...
Best of Luck to you, D
