I will not use a Diehard again. I had to replace my '95's D.H. twice in one year, them they stopped making the battery so I had to get one with less cranking amps and that one soon died out on my too.
I am getting ready to replace my current OEM battery in the '11 as it will die after about an hour of listening to the radio when the car is not running.

And then you expect the alternator to charge your battery back to full afterwards right ?
Batteries usually last on average of 5yrs if maintained correctly.
A full charge is 12.6 volts or higher. An alternator is NOT a charger it is a maintainer. If you use the battery for extended periods with the engine off then you can expect to have problems because you are draining more charge then the alternator can give back. An overnight trickle charge is usually sufficient to bring the battery to full charge.
I worked for Interstate Batteries and as someone else in this thread said they are built by Johnson Control in fact JC makes Sears DH, GM Delco, Mopar, Autozone etc... JC has about 45-50% of the US market share.
And Optima's are garbage, I wouldn't take one for free.

Optima Yellow deep cycle here. Purchased to retain maximum cold cranking amps in extended time in sub-freezing temperatures. I tend to be excessive in case of worst case scenarios.... And when the big freeze hit last time.... After 12 hours of sitting in -8 fahrenheit temperature. I noticed the OEM battery was slow to crank the vehicle.... So I went deep cycle.... Knowing how they serve me well on my ATV's, and Boat.
Now I don't worry so much. And the Battery has a 3 year warranty...bonus.

Most newer batteries are shiz. With the exception of the OEM battery in my 2000 V6 that lasted 6 year (3 in cali and 3 in AZ) no other battery has lasted more than 2 years here in AZ. I refuse to pay 170+ for something that doesn't perform any better than a $100 AutoZone battery.
It's really cool how about the two or three year mark when the free replacement warranty is about to wear out, the battery just up and dies or stops holding a charge. I just go and get a free battery replacement. It's not just my car, it's also my daughters Escape.
Deep cycles are good if you park the car for long periods of time or run things like a stereo for many hours without running the car. The downside is that most of them do not have the CA or CCA ratings of the regular celled batteries

Optima batteries are made in Mexico now and the quality has dropped. Quite a few have been reported as dieing after only 2-3 years.
Odyssey is a quality battery made in America, but you pay more for one. Its basically a MIL SPEC AGM.
