RE: Mustang vs. Camaro - article
So basically, according to the article, insurance rates killed the f-body. I never understood why people would buy a performance car that didn't have much performance. Hell, the '93 LT1 still puts down nearly as much hp/tq as the '05 GT does. My old "outdated" pushrod LS1 embarrases them.
Oh well, I guess it's an image thing.

It is sad that chevy(Camaro) makers did not keep up with the times and people's demands. I love Mustangs but I also understand that the "maro has history too alongside the stang. I think they should bring back the 'maro and the chicken hawks.......it would suck just to see mustangs everywhere.............we need some good competition and more american muscle! my 2 cents......[sm=americanasmiley.gif]

An all-new fourth-generation Camaro was introduced. Though similar in size to the '92 model, Camaro had an all-new interior and exterior. Every model included dual air bags (a Chevrolet first), a conventional glove box, and analog instrument displays and tachometer. The V6 engine increased from 240 hp. to 260 hp. The V8 was now rated at 275 hp. and was standard in the Z28.
Ya I guess 275hp is the same as 300hp, Comparing a "old" Camaro to a new mustang is like comparing a grape and a raisen.

The old LT1's put down around 255rwhp bone stock. Not every car is rated true to the hp output. My car is rated at 305hp and it put down 325rwhp with a set of headers and a CAI through an automatic. I guess I had a -% drivetrain loss?
I've seen most '05GT's run from 13.8-14.2....right on par with an LT1.

The third generation Camaro was launched in the fall of 1981 as an '82 model. Motor Trend magazine awarded the Camaro "Car of the Year." For the first time in Camaro history, a 4-cylindar engine was available in the Sport Coupe. The all-new body styling was futuristic - looking like nothing else on the road! The body now featured "hatch" styling rather than a traditional trunk. Models included the Sport Coupe, Berlinetta, and Z28. By the end of the '82 model year, production totaled 189,747 units.
Um, yes they did make a pathetic 4 banger, it was the slowest production car ever I think, LOL
