Default MP3 input with Shaker 500?

I was under the impression that the Shaker 500 had an MP3 player/iPod input in the center console. Upon trying to place the adapter into the input I realized that it's actually just another cigarette lighter. The owners manual didn't give me a very clear answer about this. My car is an '06... I'm wondering if it was just the '07s onward with the input?

The input is on 07s and up. There are aftermarket options available for adding MP3 input to the Shakers... here is one of the more recent threads on the subject.

my stang is an 06 also so i ended up buying the Peripheral aux adapter a couple years ago. that thing screwed up my cars computer and i had to remove it but luckily got refunded since the manufacturerdiscontinued support of the product. There are new versions from Peripheral and other companies. I'm currently using an AudioVox FM modulator which is basically the same thing as Ford's Trip Tunes. It works great and MUCH better than expected. sound is very clear with only a small hiss thats only heard with radio turned way up and music on pause. i've driven in and around LA/Long Beach with the same clarity. for $50 from circuit city, it was very well worth it.

+1 on the PIE unit. Works great. I have my XM connected this way and it works great.

I have an 08 andtheinputis in the center console along with the power point. Both work great and my Shaker 500 had Sirrus on it when I bought it; all are controlled from the radio.
