California edition?
A local dealer in San Diego said he is going to get 5 of these. At this time, he doesn't know much about them but no one has a name on any of them. He offered to put me down for one but he is unsure what they are (GTs or V6s).
Anyone know about these California edition?

RE: California edition?
Yeah......
It's a V6 with GT badges all over it, a big wing, wheels with the wrong offset, and some foglights..............all for a small mark-up of $20,000.00.
I don't really know, I would just assume since so many SD dealers have V6's everywhere, they would try to pull something off like that, and because someone saw one similar in SD!!!

RE: California edition?
I doubt it's authentic, just because it hasn't been all over the boards and all. But, it might be worth checking out because sometimes they do have springtime editions and the like.
Let us know what you find out.

Who is the dealer? I know that Bob Baker Ford has had Shelby GT350 look-alikes on their lot in the past... white, with blue Shelby stripes and Bullit wheels (of course, way over-priced). Maybe it's something like that. Who knows...?

Found this with a web search...
1968 California Special - GT/SC
In 1968 the California Western Region Ford Dealers offered a limited production Mustang based on the hot Shelby Mustang GTs. The California Specials (GT/CS) is base model hardtop with the Shelby tail-end treatment, side scoops, mid-body striping, the louvered hood, fog lights displaced the usual Mustang pony and corral and chrome "California Special" script graced the rear of the quarter panel. All GT/CSs were built a the San Jose plant avaiable in any color and engine combination. The were approximately 4,325, GT/CSs. assembled. Interestingly enough, the promotion did not meet sales goals, so the California Dealers asked the Denver Sales District to help unload the special order. Hence the '68 "High Country Special" was born.

RE: California edition?
Interesting info, dmilam. I still think in this case it's a Cali special by adding $2K worth of ricey bling to the car and $8K to the price. Sad part is, 5 poor suckers are going to fall for it. Then again, I guess I don't care, it's their money.
